Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar storage technologies are, how GLIA HONG KONG HOLDINGS CO., LIMITED (“Glia”, “we”, “our” or “us”) uses them across the MyPBM service, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device when you visit it. Similar technologies include local storage, which is a storage area inside your browser that a web application can read and write directly, and software development kits in mobile applications, which serve comparable purposes. Where this Cookie Policy refers to “storage” or to “cookies and similar technologies”, it includes all of these.
2. How we use storage on this service
We use storage on this service for two purposes: to make the service work, and to remember your preferences so the service behaves as you expect. We do not use storage to infer sensitive personal characteristics about you. We do not set any first-party cookies. We do not use third-party analytics, marketing, or advertising cookies, and we do not permit third parties to set cookies of their own on this service.
3. What we store and why
The MyPBM service comprises two surfaces:
- The MyPBM website at www.mypbm.app, which is publicly accessible and describes the product.
- The MyPBM web application at www.mypbm.app/app/, where you sign in and manage your advance directive. The same application is also delivered as iOS and Android apps; those apps use the equivalent local storage on each device, so the entries below apply to all three platforms.
On the MyPBM website
At the effective date of this Cookie Policy we do not store any cookies or other data in your browser from www.mypbm.app. If you submit your email address to our launch-notification form, we send it to our database; that is a one-time transmission and is not stored in your browser.
In the MyPBM web application
The web application uses your browser’s local storage to support the service. The entries we write are listed below. Strictly necessary entries are required for the service to function and are written without separate consent because they are essential to providing the service you have requested. Preference entries are written only after you make the corresponding choice (for example, selecting a language or enabling biometric unlock).
| Storage key | Purpose | Category | Typical retention |
|---|---|---|---|
sb-gheuolzcildfowhmcjpy-auth-token | Holds your signed-in session with Supabase, our authentication and database provider. Required to stay signed in between page loads and across devices. | Strictly necessary | Until you sign out or the session expires |
mypbm.disclaimer.acked.v1.… | Records that you have acknowledged the first-launch medical disclaimer on this device. Written once per user account; the full key includes your account identifier as a suffix. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear your browser storage |
mypbm_emergency_cache | Holds a cached copy of your active advance directive so the emergency display screen works if your device is offline. Contains medical and legal content from your directive. | Strictly necessary | Until you update or delete your directive |
language | Remembers your chosen interface language (one of ten supported languages). | Preference | Until you clear your browser storage |
biometric_enabled | Remembers whether you have enabled biometric unlock on this device. | Preference | Until you clear your browser storage |
review_reminders | Remembers whether you have enabled annual review reminders. | Preference | Until you clear your browser storage |
reminder_days | Remembers how many days before your annual review date you wish to be reminded. | Preference | Until you clear your browser storage |
onboarding_completed | Remembers that you have finished onboarding on this device, so we do not re-show it. | Preference | Until you clear your browser storage |
dismiss_translation_banner | Remembers that you have dismissed the translation banner, so we do not re-show it. | Preference | Until you clear your browser storage |
You can clear any of these entries at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site; see Section 5 below.
4. Consent and cookie banners
We do not set any non-essential cookies or use third-party analytics or advertising on this service, so we do not present a cookie banner. If we introduce non-essential storage in a future release, for example if we add analytics to understand how the service is used, we will update this Cookie Policy and present a clear consent banner before any such storage is written.
Where you are located in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, we will not set any non-essential storage until you have given clear affirmative consent. Where you are located in Hong Kong, we apply the same standard by choice, because we believe it offers you better transparency and control than the minimum required under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
5. How you can control browser storage
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, delete, and block cookies and local storage. You can usually find these settings in the browser’s options or preferences menu. If you clear strictly necessary storage for the MyPBM web application, you will be signed out, and the emergency cache and first-launch acknowledgement will be re-created the next time you use the service.
Guidance for common browsers is available at:
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals
At the effective date of this Cookie Policy we do not set any non-essential storage, so Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals do not change our behaviour. If we introduce non-essential storage in a future release, we will treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to reject non-essential storage on that device. Industry support for the older Do Not Track signal is inconsistent, so we will not rely on it; please use the cookie banner we will introduce, or your browser settings, to express your preference.
7. Personal data and storage
Where storage on this service holds personal data (for example, your authentication session, or the cached copy of your directive), that personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. The Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance requires us to inform you of the purpose of collection and the classes of persons to whom the data may be transferred; this Cookie Policy and the Privacy Policy together fulfil that requirement.
8. Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if the storage we use changes. The current version number and effective date appear at the top of this page. Where changes introduce new non-essential storage, we will present a consent banner and ask for your affirmative consent before any such storage is written.
9. Contact us
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or similar storage technologies, please contact us at privacy@mypbm.app.
